1. Introduction

An exposition text is a type of text that aims to present arguments or opinions about a certain issue. The main purpose is to persuade the readers that an idea or point of view is correct or worth supporting. In Grade 11, students focus on Analytical Exposition Texts.

2. Social Function

- To persuade the readers that something is the case.

- To argue why a viewpoint should be accepted.

- To present logical reasons and supporting evidence.

3. Types of Exposition Text

Analytical Exposition: States a thesis and supports it with arguments to convince readers.

Hortatory Exposition: Suggests or recommends certain actions along with arguments.

4. Generic Structure of Analytical Exposition

Thesis

   - Introduces the topic or issue.

   - States the writer’s point of view.

Arguments

   - Presents reasons and supporting evidence.

Conclusion

   - Restates the main idea.

- Using simple present tense.
