How to Create a Listening Learning Audio

How to Create a Listening Learning Audio

In this section we can learn about example of listening learning audio “About a Flight Delay Announcement”

Below is a simple step-by-step guide to help you create a clear and effective listening audio for students. The topic used is “an airplane that is delayed at the boarding gate”.

A.    Introduction Stage

This part is the beginning of the audio. The purpose is to prepare students and give context so they know what they are going to listen to.

Steps:

1.      Start by greeting the students.

Example: “Hello students, today you are going to listen to an airport announcement.”

2.      Tell them the topic.

Example: “The announcement is about a flight that has been delayed.”

3.      Tell them what they should focus on.

Example: “Please listen carefully for information about the flight number, the reason for the delay, and what passengers should do next.”

B.      Content Stage (Main Listening Audio)

This is the main part of the audio. Here, you record the actual airport announcement.

Sample Announcement Script (You can record this directly):

“Attention, please. This is a passenger announcement for Flight GA 452 to Jakarta. We are sorry to inform you that the flight has been delayed due to technical issues. The new boarding time is 4:30 PM at Gate B12. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding.”

Recording Tips:

1.      Use a clear and calm voice.

2.      Speak slowly enough for students to understand.

3.      Use background noise lightly (optional), like a soft airport ambience.

4.      Make sure the audio is not too loud or too quiet.

C.     Evaluation Stage

After students listen to the announcement, they must answer questions to check understanding.

Steps:

1.      Provide 3–5 simple questions.

2.      Ask questions related to important details in the announcement.

Example Questions:

·         What is the flight number?

·         Why is the flight delayed?

·         What time is the new boarding time?

·         Which gate should passengers go to?

·         What does the announcement apologize for?

Optional:

-          Ask students to repeat some phrases (pronunciation practice).

-          Ask them to summarize the announcement in their own words.

D.    Saving and Sharing the Audio

Export the audio as “MP3” or “WAV” so all devices can play it.

 Upload the audio to:

1.      Google Drive

2.      WhatsApp group

3.      Learning platforms (Google Classroom, Moodle, etc.)

Give students instructions on when and how to use the audio.

Finished!
