How To Edit Vidio by Using CapCut

 

One of the most popular apps that we can use in teaching and learning CALL about video is “CapCut”. Here are several steps in using CapCut app:

How to Edit a Video in CapCut

Below are the steps explained in very simple English so beginners can easily follow.

A.    Introduction Section

This is the opening part of your video. The goal is to introduce the topic and catch the viewer’s attention.

Step-by-step (Introduction):

1.       Open CapCut

·         Tap “New Project”

·         Select your clips (for example: walking to campus, entering gate, looking nervous, etc.)

2.      Add an Intro Clip

·         Choose a short clip that shows the beginning of your day.

·         Or you can use a photo of the campus.

3.       Add Title Text

·         Tap “Text → Add text”

·         Write the title, for example:

·         “My First Day of College”

·         Choose a simple font and color.

4.      Add Background Music (Optional)

·         Tap “Audio → Sounds”

·         Pick calm or cheerful music.

5.       Add Simple Animation

    Tap the text → “Animation” → choose “Fade in” or “Typewriter”

This makes your introduction clear and attractive.

B.     Content Section

This is the main part of the video. You explain your experience on the first day of college.

Step-by-step (Content):

1.      Arrange Your Clips

Drag your clips on the timeline to put them in the correct order.

    Example sequence:

·         Leaving home

·         Arriving at campus

·         Finding the classroom

·         Meeting new friends

·         First lecture

2.       Trim Unnecessary Parts

·         Tap a clip → “Split” or “Trim”

·         Remove moments that are too long or boring.

3.      Add Narration or Text

   Choose one:

·         Voice-over: Tap “Audio → Voiceover”, record your story.

·         Text: Tap “Text → Add text”, write short explanations.

   Example:

-          “I woke up early because I didn’t want to be late.”

-          “I got lost but finally found my class.”

-          “Everyone was friendly.”

4.      Use Transitions Between Clips

·         Tap the white square between two clips.

·         Choose a simple transition like “Dissolve” or “Slide”

5.       Add Stickers or Emojis (Optional)

·         Use them to show emotions like nervous, excited, or confused.

·         Do not use too many—keep it clean.

6.      Adjust Volume

   Reduce background music volume so it doesn’t cover your voice.

C.    Evaluation / Closing Section

This part is the ending of your video, where you reflect on your experience.

Step-by-step (Evaluation / Ending):

1.      Add a Final Clip

    A clip of you smiling, walking home, or showing your classroom.

 

2.      Add Closing Text

    Examples:

·         “My first day was challenging but fun!”

·         “I learned a lot and met new friends.”

·         “I can’t wait for the next class.”

3.      Add Outro Music

    Choose soft music for the ending.

4.       Add Ending Animation

   Use “Fade out” on the last clip or text to make it look professional.

5.       Export the Video

·         Tap “Export” (top right corner).

·         Choose “1080p” for good quality.

·         Save to your gallery.

Final Result

By following these steps, you will have a video that includes:

ü  An attractive “Introduction”

ü  Clear and organized “Content”

ü  A reflective “Evaluation/Closing”
